The question a dinner table asks, before any food arrives, is whether it is worth looking at. These plates answer that before the first bite.
The Mira Appetizer Plates are part of Nira's Ceramics' festive collection — four hand-painted ceramic plates, each 7" in diameter, decorated with florals, delicate leaves and folk-inspired forms drawn from traditional Indian craft but rendered with a freshness that makes them feel entirely contemporary. The palette runs through soft pinks, deep reds, warm creams and touches of saffron, the brushwork expressive enough that you can see the hand behind each one.
Every plate is hand-glazed and kiln-fired twice using Nira's proprietary glazes. The double firing gives the glaze its depth — the colour doesn't sit on the surface, it lives inside it. And because each piece is made and painted by hand, no two plates in the set are exactly the same. The variation is not incidental — it is the point. A set of four plates that are similar but not identical is a set that feels genuinely handmade rather than factory-approximate.
The 24-carat gold accents mean these plates are dishwasher safe but not microwave or oven safe. Over time, a gentle patina may develop on the matte surfaces from cutlery contact — the kind of wear that only makes a handmade object look more like itself.
A gift for the host who understands that how food is served is part of how it tastes.
